MVGH Health Center/Hearth Auxiliary since January 1975

What is the Auxiliary? Our by-laws answer: "The purpose of the Auxiliary shall be to enhance

the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of the residents of the Skilled Nursing Facility

[Health Center] and the Residential Care Facility for the Elderly [Hearth]." Our Auxiliary

recently held a successful home (estate) sale in unit D76.

We have a thrift shop with many lovely donated items: books, clothing, jewelry, household

items and furniture, and occasionally plants. Proceeds benefit the Health Center, Hearth, and

Ranch House. Since 1999, we have contributed over $340,882 to provide improvements such

as flooring, tables and chairs, TVs and satellite service, phone and sound systems,

remodeling, and many projects for personal comfort. We also fund monthly expenses for the

Health Center fish tank, Netflix, Massage Therapy and local newspaper subscriptions for each

facility.

You have many ways to participate with the MVGH Auxiliary according to your availability.

Volunteers are needed in the store to help process donated items (sort, clean, repair, price),

and to serve as a cashier or station helper on occasional sale days. Volunteers are also

needed to process donated books and CDs. If you love plants, you can re-pot and water

existing plants, as needed until sale time. You may also adopt a plant to care for and enjoy

until sale day.**

Hours and days are very flexible, so let us know where you would like to help. It's a great way

to have meaningful fellowship with other residents ... and no two days are alike!

Thank you.

**The MVGH Store is closed due to the pandemic, but we anticipate opening in mid

September, following COVID guidelines.
