Support Monte Vista Grove

MVGH - Honor Roll.jpg

“Whoever sows generously will also reap generously...for God loves a cheerful giver” 2 Corinthians 9:6

Monte Vista Grove is an independent, non-profit senior community: We do not receive government funding or ongoing support from any Presbytery or Synod. We exist on the generosity of friends like you. Responsible stewardship of our financial resources is one of our core values, and we are proud to use your gifts to provide dignified, quality care today as well as to position us for the future.

*Any monetary gift can be given in memorial or honorarium: Memorial gifts are a special way to honor your loved one's memory and keep their legacy alive. Honorarium gifts celebrate the honoree while they are still living and able to enjoy the experience.. The designee or their family will be notified of your gift, but not of the amount.

Unrestricted Support

Unrestricted support means providing funds that can be used NOW to make a difference DAILY in the lives of senior adults. Unrestricted support allows us to continually strive for excellence in all levels of care. This type of support provides for licensed care levels that are staffed 24 hours a day. It provides the 13.5 acres of beautiful landscaping all done by our own crew. It enables our dining service program to serve three meals a day to all four levels of care, as well as staff and visitors. It also makes the little things possible like replacing vacuum bags, watering the gardens, ordering fresh vegetables, a new puzzle in The Commons, laundry detergent, light bulbs, and a fresh coat of paint when needed. Unrestricted support provides for the essentials, not just the niceties. It is the essentials that support dignity as individuals age.

Unrestricted gifts support our basic, daily needs. It’s not as exciting as a new building or a big event, but without meeting basic, daily needs, there would be no buildings or events. Giving to this fund is trusting us to make the best use of your money; to steward it where it will make the biggest impact in the everyday lives of those we serve.

Resident Financial Support

Monte Vista Grove Homes continually strives to “bridge the gap” between what residents are able to pay and what it actually costs for the level of care provided. As many of our residents made financial sacrifices to serve the church, some struggle today with having adequate retirement reserves, and require our support. We aim to respond to the financial needs of residents who might not otherwise be able to afford the facilities and care that we provide.

Furthermore, as lifespans increase and medical costs rise, more and more senior adults face depleted retirement savings. Even those who carefully plan and responsibly invest can find themselves in financial peril when suffering a long illness. Sometimes, illness leaves one spouse alone, grieving for their loved one while balancing financial stress. Here, it is our turn to serve those who have spent their lives in service.

Our ability to respond to these needs requires financial support from our generous supporters. This includes subsidizing individual campus residents, Hearth (assisted living), Ranch House (memory care), and Stewart Cottage residents. Your support enables us to help these deserving servants of the church who gave so much throughout their lifetime.

Other Ways To Support Us

Cornerstone Society

The Cornerstone Society is comprised of individuals who have made provisions for MVGH in their estate plans (either as percentage of the total, or with a fixed amount of $5,000 or more).

We have begun our centennial count-down by setting an ambitious goal of growing our Cornerstone Society to 100 members by our 100th anniversary in 2024. We hope to bolster this level of support, often thought of as our “roots.” Legacy giving strengthens Monte Vista Grove at the core, creating a firm foundation from which our “branches” of care and services can grow long and sturdy.

Cornerstone society members are recognized in various ways, including events, honor roll listings, and a recognition plaque on campus.

If you have questions or would like more information about naming MVGH in your will, or about local attorneys who could update or review your will or trust, please contact Robin Harvill, Director of Philanthropy, listed below.

Gifts In Kind

We welcome donations of all kinds!

Our on-campus boutique takes donations of gently used clothing, accessories, homewares, and more. The shop is run by the MVGH Auxiliary; founded and operated by residents and community members. This group raises funds used to support our three licensed care levels, which are open to the community.

If your donation is better suited for auction, we’d love that too! We host several annual events with silent auctions, featuring everything from event tickets and music lessons to designer purses and fine wine.

You may contact Olivia Smith at osmith@mvgh.org or by phone at (626) 796-6135 ext. 439 for more information.
