READ ON, ANYWAY
Some reporters and editors have a felicity for using pun-ishing titles for articles in the paper. The following are recent examples from the LA Times.
* "Not cool with menthol ban" - about smokers' anger with government ban of menthol in cigarettes
* "Overhaul of math classes stirs division"
* " 'Axe' cuts deep" - review of the movie "Axe"
* "Orange City turns yellow" - yellow tier in Covid-19 cases
* "A 'Proud Boys' leader, shame on the town" - about the town that produced Proud Boys, an active group in the January assault on the capitol.
* "His claim to "Flamin' Hot (Cheetos) up in smoke" - about employee who falsely claimed he invented them
* "Ojai ranch listed for a beefy $100 million"
* "Loom of the Fruit. Fabrics made from food are a trending stand-in for leather."
* "Intermission, your time is up. Let's not breathe the same theater air longer than we have to."
* "5,000 workers are on bullet train project? Not so fast ..” - Hiring boast is exaggerated.
* "Pluses, minuses of math teaching proposal"
Rumor has it that the Huntington wants a new outdoor restaurant in a beautiful setting of flowers, shrubs, and trees. They plan to call it "The Garden of Eatin' ." (Forbidden Fruit will not be on the menu.)
